Joe A Perez, 83, of San Saba passed away on Sunday, February 14, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. Joe was born on December 6, 1937, to Eugenio and Josephina Perez of Lampasas and was the oldest of 17 children. Joe married Pauline Botello on March 4, 1961, and they would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this year. Joe was a faithful employee of Little Butane for over 55 years through which he made many friends. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in San Saba and a 4th degree member of Assembly No. 1809 Knights of Columbus.

Joe is survived by his beautiful wife, Pauline; daughter, Diana and husband Sam; son, Joe Jr. and wife Julie; son, Carlos; daughter, Estella and husband Joey; son, Eugenio and wife Christie.

He is also survived by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom he loved and was very proud to be their Papaw. Grandchildren include Joe Perez III, Samantha Peck and husband Matt, Rosie Huff and husband Jack, Justin Perez, Amber Perez, Ryan Soto and wife Mia, Dakota Perez, Aaron Perez, Riley Soto, Adrian Correa, Kaysha Fuentes and husband Chris Brown, Amber Montoya, Kaytlyn Montoya, Miranda Follins, Dillon McCall, Jesse MCall, Douglas Stewart, and Jakobe Painter. Great-grandchildren include Celina Perez, Alexis Peck, Malachi Perez, Kaycyn Loth, Bailey Huff, Khloé Soto, Christian Brown, Cheyenne Fehr, Morgan Huff, Mary Jane Gonzales, Liliana Gloria, Kenzie Soto, and Nicholas Brown. He was also awaiting the arrival of two more great-grandchildren. Other survivors include eight sisters: Cruz, Augustina, Josie, Maggie, Mercedes, Maria, Angie, and Vivian; and two brothers: Miguel and Antonio.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents; son, Gabriel; brothers: Aniceto, Hildo, Stanley, and Alex; and sisters: Florentina and Eufemia.

Family received friends on Friday, February 19, 2021, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home in San Saba. Funeral Mass was held at the St. Mary's Catholic Church on Saturday, February 20, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. with burial to follow at the San Saba City Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Ryan, Riley, Aaron, Malachi, Matt, Jack.

Honorary Pallbearers were Sam Stewart, Joey Soto, Wes Fajkus, Betty Sue Hardy, Rigo DeLaCruz, JP Buitron, Bob Carroll, Ray Saucedo, Mike Perez, Tony Perez.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Never Surrender Cancer Foundation of San Saba County.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Heritage Funeral Home of San Saba.
