The San Saba County Commissioners’ Court met for a regular meeting on Monday, January 4th, in the District Courtroom. Judge Byron Theodosis called the meeting to order at 9:11 a.m. Commissioner Rickey Lusty gave the invocation and led everyone in pledges to the American flag and the Texas flag. Ms. Blossman presented the following to the Court:

1. Swearing In Of Elective Officials For 2021 – 2024 Term:
Judge Byron Theodosis administered the oaths of office to: David Jenkins - Sheriff; Randy Robinson - County Attorney; Kenley Kroll - Commissioner Precinct 3; and James Lebow - County Commissioner Precinct 1.
2. Surety Bonds for New Officials For 2021 – 2024 Term:
Decision: The Court approved the Surety Bonds for New Officials for 2021 - 2024 Term.
3. Discuss and Take Possible Action on Appointing Directors For Rural Rail District:
Donnie Smith nominated Jerry Light from Cherokee and himself, Donnie Smith, to act as Directors for the Rural Rail District.
Decision: The Court approved Donnie Smith and Jerry Light as Directors for the Rural Rail District.
4. Accept or Reject Name For Rural Rail District Name - “Heart of Texas Rural Rail District”:
Decision: The Court voted unanimously to accept the name “Heart of Texas Rural Rail District” for the name of the Rural Rail District.
5. Discuss and Take Possible Action on COVID-19:
Ms. Hardy reported out of the 96 people at the last testing, there were 16 positives for the county of San Saba. There were five or six other positives, but they were from other counties.
Ms. Hardy stated that vaccines can’t be given to those over 65 until all the healthcare workers and first responders have been given the opportunity. She did note that people need to get them as soon as they are available. The more we use, the more we get.
Ms. Hardy informed the Court there will be testing two to three days a week for the next few weeks that are already scheduled.
6. Take Possible Action Concerning Burn Ban (Current Status: Burn Ban is IN EFFECT AS OF 12-14-2020 Thru March 14, 2021);
Decision: The Court voted unanimously to lift the Burn Ban. 7. Approve or Reject Proposed Amendments and/or Line Item Transfers:
None.
8. Approve or Reject Proposed Accounts Payable:
Decision: The Court voted unanimously to approve the Proposed Accounts Payable.
9. Discuss Next Commissioners’ Court Date & Time:
The next Commissioners’ Court will be held Tuesday, January 19th, at 9:00 a.m. in the District Court Room.
