The Rotary Club of San Saba and Pepperbelly’s Mexican Restaurant presented gift cards for a meal to law enforcement in our community. We want to reinforce how much we appreciate all you do for us and your sacrifice and dedication during this year with all the things we are all going through.

Editor’s addendum: National Police Week is formally celebrated each year in Washington D.C. during May 10th-16th, with May 15th designated as Peace Officers Memorial Day by President John F. Kennedy in a signed proclamation in 1962.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic this year, National Police Week was not celebrated at our Nation’s Capital. However, it’s great to know our little town has its own celebration to honor our varied law enforcement agencies. Maybe, though, we don’t tell them or show them enough how much we appreciate and respect them? That may be obvious in other towns or states, but let’s be assertive with our support and care for our men and women who are there to protect us! Next time you see one of our law enforcement personnel, keep your social distance but tell them how much you appreciate them and how proud you are of their service to us and to our town! Thanks!
