This past week we have had some very good rains, and more may be on the way. A total of over seven inches was reported from all the rains up to Monday. It didn't just come down all at once, but it rained over all of last week. The Colorado River is on a rise from all the rain.

Jerry Reavis passed away May 21, 2020, and was buried at Chappel Cemetery Saturday, May 23, 2020, at 3:00 p.m. Jerry will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. Jerry always had a good story to tell you when he saw you.

Warren and Sandra Spivey are new grandparents. Their son, Warren Jr., and his wife, Jessica, are the new parents of a baby girl born Thursday, May 21, 2020. Her name is Breanna Joyce; she weighed 7 lbs, 13 oz.

Mother and baby are both doing very well and are home. She was welcomed home by siblings: McKenzie, Braxton and Jaydon; and Jessica’s parents, Edward and stepmother, Tammy Fulter Johnson.

The wedding anniversary of Sherman and Margaret Behrens was May 9, and was not mentioned in the paper. The computer, not the writer, messed up!

It is always an easy thing to blame someone else for any mistake made, and the computer can’t talk back.

Orabeth Hicks reported that they attended their great-granddaughter, Zoë Poe's, 2nd birthday party. The theme was farm animals, and everything was decorated with that in mind: cup cakes with pig faces and a black and white cake. Hamburgers were served at lunch. Great grandmother, Thelma Poe, of San Saba also attended the affair.

Prayers are needed for Jane Clark who has medical problems; Charlene Reavis who just buried her husband, Jerry; Phil B. and Winnie Lou McCoury; Pete Henniger who is fighting a battle against cancer; and Earl Ray Sutton who has some medical problems,

Lanell Danials has a tree that needs to be removed before it comes crashing down on her roof. She also has a riding lawn mower that needs repairing. If anyone reads this and can do anything to help her, give her a call.

Congratulations go out to Ory Eckhoff of Hawley who graduated this year. He is the grandson of Leon and Mebbie Eckhoff. He plans on attending TSTC in Abilene.

Robert Price celebrated the big 40 with his family May 24. A chocolate cake, baked by his daughter, Haley, was enjoyed by everyone. No candles, as it just might have set the house on fire with so many candles. And besides, he just might not have enough air to blow them all out.

Spring Price celebrated her birthday, May 26, at the Bend Store with everyone there.

Bonnie Millican reported on all the visitors that they had over the weekend. Paul and Sharon Strouhal of Midland and their son, Brian, and daughter, Annabelle, also came. Sam Stroubal of Austin also paid them a visit. They had great fun getting out on the creek and river.

Sam has a drone and took some of the most wonderful pictures over, and down the creek. They all celebrated Gail Callan’s 90th birthday. She spent the day Saturday and Sunday at the Bend. There was lots of time spent visiting, eating and just relaxing. Everyone left Monday May 25, to go home. It was a fun time being to gather.
