God’s Way Is Best

The Bible is a Book that gives us information on a wide range of topics. This book is not an archaic book that is outdated and useless to us today. The Bible is a book that gives us certain rules to live by. If we will give heed to the things written in the Holy Scriptures, our lives will be much better.

When God set down certain rules for the Israelites to follow, it was always for their own good. The sad thing is that they did not always see things in this manner. By the same token, today there are some who do not want to follow the Bible. Life is so much better if we use the Bible as our guide as we pass through this life.

One of the most practical books in the New Testament is the book of Ephesians. Paul gives some instruction to the church that met in Ephesus. In chapter 4, verse 25, he stated, “Therefore, laying aside falsehood, speak truth each one of you with his neighbor, for we are members of one another.” (NASB) Today many people have gotten themselves into trouble because they have not told the truth. Some may think a “little white lie” won’t hurt. There is no such thing as a little lie and a big lie. One lie is as bad as the other, and a lie is opposed to the One who cannot lie (Hebrews 6:18).

Verse 28 informs us, “He who steals must steal no longer; but rather he must labor, performing with his own hands what is good, so that he will have something to share with one who has need.” Notice that Paul tells us that stealing is wrong. Paul wants everyone to quit stealing the things that, perhaps, they are coveting. It is important that one works so that one will have something to share with those who have legitimate needs.

In verse 29 we are told, “Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification according to the need of the moment, so that it will give grace to those who hear.” We need to make sure we are not cursing, taking God’s name in vain, and all the other things that the Bible teaches is bad. We need to speak about people in a positive manner, not a belittling or hurtful one. As Paul writes, our words need to be words of encouragement. We need to make each other feel special and important, because as one of God’s children, we are!

The Bible is a book that gives us a true way to live, and if we follow it, we cannot go wrong. Are you following God through His Word, or selfishly doing as you want? God’s way is always better!
