After just 42 days, more than 50 percent of American households have responded to the 2020 Census. The country reached the important milestone on Saturday, April 18, with 44.4 percent of the questionnaire responses taking place online, and the other 5.6 percent by phone or mail. As of April 21, 76,300,000 households (51.6 percent) nationwide completed the Census, with the state of Minnesota leading the way with a 61.6 percent selfresponse rate.

Deep in the heart of Texas

Texas is the 39th ranked state in self-response, with 47 percent of households (5,700,000) completing their 2020 Census questionnaires by April 21.

Rockwall County of North Texas leads all counties for the state coming in at 58.7 percent response rate. Breaking the top 20 counties in self response include Williamson (55.4 percent), Guadalupe (53.3 percent), Comal (53.3 percent), Kendall (51.6 percent), Travis (51.2 percent) and Bexar (50.4 percent).

Don’t forget October 31!

Residents still have time to respond to the Census whether online, by phone or by mail. The deadline to respond online or by phone is now extended to October 31. For households that did not respond as of April 8, they should have received a paper questionnaire in the mail. It has never been easier to respond on your own—all without having to meet a census taker.
