And on a sweeter note. . . Texas Dairy Queen (TDQ) serving Cotton Candy Blizzard as Flavor of the Month

As sure as the wildflowers are blossoming across our great state, Texas Dairy Queen (TDQ) is celebrating the arrival of warmer weather and the featured Blizzard® Flavor of the Month: Cotton Candy.

“Our Cotton Candy Blizzard is one of our most popular flavors,” said Lou Romanus, CEO of the Texas Dairy Queen Operators’ Council. “This Blizzard brings a smile to our fans’ faces when they taste this sweet treat. We’re happy to bring this flavor back, as well as offering our full menu of treats and eats.”

The Cotton Candy Blizzard is a frozen melody of DQ soft serve and cotton candy sprinkles for a refreshing treat for the taste buds and will be available through August. The Cotton Candy Blizzard joins a lineup of limited time flavors such as the Oreo Cheesecake Blizzard, Frosted Animal Cookie Blizzard, Raspberry Fudge Bliss Blizzard, S’mores Blizzard, and the Rocky Road Trip Blizzard.

Texas Dairy Queens continue to offer its menu via drive-thru windows, pick-up and take-out, as well as delivery and online ordering, where available.

To add to this story and to follow-up on the reopening of Texas according to Governor Abbott’s recent plans to restart the economy, I talked to Ms. Herd briefly, especially since I noticed the dining area of the restaurant was dark and empty. She responded that their restaurant is owned by The Richeson Group, which owns about 62 DQs across the state of Texas. With that said, Debra stated Richeson has set a tentative date of May 18th for their DQs to open to 25% capacity. However, Debra emphasized that she is not certain that this will be the case. . . “we’re just waiting on them (Richeson) to let us know.”

In the meantime, Debra says business in the drive-thru and take-out is going great and they are doing everything they can to meet the demands. They hope they are meeting everyone’s satisfaction and definitely want to keep their customers coming back.

While I was there for the interview and photo shoot, there were quite a number of cars going through the drive-thru and a couple of people sitting at the outside tables. Of course, I had no trouble getting a volunteer for a delicious Cotton Candy Blizzard, compliments of Dairy Queen - just for a quick smile and a photo!
