Hunter Lee Yarbrough passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, in Dallas, Texas. He was born to parents Leroy Yarbrough and Linda Drennan Yarbrough on June 24, 1963 in Ranger, Texas.
He was a master naturalist, gifted writer, photographer, craftsman, pilot, and so much more. He was spontaneous and enjoyed traveling and adventure. His most recent adventure was a nearly three week trip to Alaska with his sisters, niece, brother-inlaw, and friend, Tonja. His sense of humor and frequent practical jokes were well known to family and friends. He celebrated five years post heart transplant on May 26th.
He is preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Stephanie as well as his parents and brother in law Cole McDowell. He is survived by his son, Paul Yarbrough; his sisters: Cathy Kolodziej and her husband Mike, and Sarah McDowell; nephews: Brent Clary and wife Ashlee, Blake Clary and wife Ciarra, Clinton Clary and wife Apryl, and Christopher Kolodziej; niece, Macye McDowell; eight great-nieces and nephews as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. His childhood best friend, Paul Conner, stood by him through a lifetime of many grand adventures. His special friend, Tonja Hamel, was with him through many journeys. He leaves behind his best animal friends, Lucy and Chief. He will be remembered for his gifted ability to give life to the written word and his resilience in Monopoly (though he was never able to beat Macye even when he made up the rules.) He will be greatly missed.
