Members of Girl Scout Troop 50, along with their troop leaders, spent their Saturday volunteering at San Saba County Friends of Animals and helping with a long list of projects around the shelter.
The girls were not afraid to get their hands dirty. They mowed the yard, dug up stickers and helped treat the grounds for weeds. They also painted picnic tables, assembled cat towers, bathed dogs, mopped floors, cleaned dog and cat kennels, and helped with other projects that needed to be completed around the facility.
Of course, there was also time to socialize with the animals. The Girl Scouts spent time giving the shelter dogs and cats some muchappreciated attention while they worked.
This was not Troop 50’s first time helping the organization. It was their third visit to volunteer at the shelter, and each time they have been willing to take on whatever jobs were needed.
For a small nonprofit animal shelter that depends heavily on volunteers, having a group willing to dedicate an entire Saturday makes a tremendous difference.
San Saba County Friends of Animals would like to thank the members of Girl Scout Troop 50 and their troop leaders for giving their time and working so hard. Their willingness to serve their community helped accomplish several projects in one day and, most importantly, helped make the shelter a better place for the animals waiting for their forever homes.
