The San Saba Garden Club’s symbolic flower is the Crepe Myrtle and its symbolic colors are pink and white. Crepe myrtle flowers symbolize resilience, long-lasting love, and renewal, largely due to their ability to bloom through scorching summer heat for up to a hundred days and shed their bark to reveal smooth new wood.
The color pink signifies grace, joy, and gratitude while white means peace, nobility, and purity. The exfoliating bark of the crepe myrtle tree mirrors the shedding of old troubles for fresh starts. The plant’s exceptionally long blooming period signifies enduring affection and devotion.
San Saba Garden Club strives to encompass all these attributes as we look at the past fifteen months of survival following the floods of July 2025 and as we push forward with the renovation of our beloved clubhouse. We are not standing idle, we continue with our projects, having worked through the summer hosting Kids’ Nature Kamp in the park, maintaining flower beds at San Saba Elementary School and San Saba Rehab & Nursing Facility keyhole garden, all the time planning for days ahead for our clubhouse and club programs. We hope to have an Open Arms Celebration featuring the renewed clubhouse next January. We want to thank those who have encouraged us and blessed us by donating to our rebuilding efforts!
For now, we invite any guests or new members to our first meeting of the new year which will be held the first Tuesday of September, September 1st, at 2 p.m. in the basement of the First Presbyterian Church, San Saba….entrance is on Clear Street. You are welcome to come fellowship with us and find out what the new year looks like in San Saba Garden Club!
