Rain in July

Can you believe we had some good, beautiful rains in the middle of July of all things? Yes, it was spotty in some places, but there were a lot of places that had good rains. We had a lot of rain over seven inches in a week, and it is green, dirt tanks are full. Maybe more rain in that week than we had the last 8 to 10 months, had more rain than we had the last two years.

I guess the question is how do we respond to the rain or to the one who makes it rain?

Many look to the government to supply and fix everything. We are warned in the Bible not to trust man but to put our trust in God.

Psalm 118:8-9 It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man. 9 It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in princes.

I found myself looking intently at the weather forecasts earlier this year, and I began to realize I was focusing on the wrong thing. The forecasters cannot do anything about the rain neither can the government, but there is one who can. The God who made everything has control of it all.

Psalm 147:8 He covers the heavens with clouds; he prepares rain for the earth; he makes grass grow on the hills.

(See also Psalm 104:1-15.)

Do we put our trust in Him? Do we ask Him for rain? Or better yet do we thank Him when He sends rain, ( Psalm 107:8 Let them thank the Lord for his

steadfast love, for his wondrous works to the children of man!) or go on with the attitude that we deserve or are entitled to it?

Let us give thanks.

Psalm 104:33 I will sing to the Lord as long as I live; I will sing praise to my God while I have being.

See you in Church next Sunday.
