The Crain Mercantile Company, a firm composed of R. S. Crain and R. T. Pritchet, sold their furniture and hardware business to W. N. Ellis, A. B. Kirkpatrick, and R. O. Harris. Mr. Kirkpatrick will have charge, and later, Mr. Ellis will take an active part in conducting the business.
J. E. Cock and wife and children, Joe Ernest and Alice Orene, and Graves Burke and sister, Miss Delia, spent several days at Sulphur Springs enjoying the sport of fishing and bathing. They report fishing good and bathing better.
Cols. R. E. Woods and H. H. Doran still believe in farming in the San Saba Valley. Each of them has had additional land grubbed out this spring and summer.
In pursuance with their plan to make the Majestic the most up to date picture theatre in this section, Dofflemyer Brothers will receive over 300 opera chairs to install in place of the benches that are at present the seating arrangement. With one of the best circuits of pictures, good ventilation and cooling fans, and comfortable seats this pleasure house will continue to gain in popularity.

There is now a second crop of caterpillars on the pecan timber, and pecans are falling pretty fast. Our opinion is that the caterpillar will just about ruin the pecan crop. Some of the more progressive orchardists are spraying, and this may save their pecan crop.
Odell Parisher, son of Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Parisher and Miss Elizabeth Daugherty, the youngest daughter of Mrs. Daugherty were married July 19 at San Saba.
A. R. Neely, of San Saba, has added to his herd by purchase of Betty Lou and Lady Lometa from M. V. Hereford, Lometa, Texas. The new animals are purebred Milking Shorthorns and the records of the transfers of ownership have been made by the American Milking Shorthorn Society at Springfield, Missouri.
Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Alf Collins have heard from their daughter, Mrs. Scott and daughter who arrived safely in Havre, France, where she joined her husband.
