I had a little surprise shower today. It didn’t last long, but every drop is appreciated. We need rain desperately. There were three small fires near me. One was right at the north corner of my property. Fortunately, everyone is on the lookout these days and several cars stopped to take care of the problem before it grew. Thank you to all you wonderful neighbors.
I visited the first food truck Sunday. The mayor and his assistants have done a great job on the “food truck corner”. This first one was a BBQ truck. I think they didn’t realize how many people would show up. They worked as quickly as they could, but the line was a little long. The corner looked good with people sitting at the new tables. What a great idea. I can’t wait for the next event.
The Sandbur Boogie had the East end of town hopping. If you didn’t get a chance to attend this year, please put it on your calendar for next year. Thank you to all who attended. Thank you to the Beautification Committee for hosting this annual event. Proceeds will be used to complete the new food truck corner.
September 13th will be the next community dinner at the community center. The doors will be open by 9:30a.m. for anyone wanting to drop off their dish before church. This monthly event is one of the highlights of our community events. Come join the fun and fellowship. Meals are by donation only and all proceeds go to the Preservation Society.
Congratulations to the volleyball girls . They are 2-0 with wins against Zephyr and Mullin. They have improved greatly and continue to show their strengths.
Way to go ladies. Good luck with your game on the 30th. Junior high will play on the 29th at home against Zephyr.
Our varsity football boys had a tough loss on Friday. They played a huge Christian school with an enrollment of 1000 students. I can guarantee this team will learn from this loss. Go get them Coyotes.
Don’t forget the Richland Springs Trade Days on the 17th of October. Gates at the Feed Lot will be open from 9:00a.m.– 5:00 p.m. This will be another well attended event. There will be plenty of vendors and even more buyers. Come one come all.
The bond meeting was held on Monday, but I haven’t heard how it went. I know many citizens were interested in this new bond, and the projects that would be covered by the bond.
The first Wednesday Kids’ Church was a success. Twentysix K-6th students attended. Thank you to all who helped and attended.
Our mid-term elections are a little more than a month away. Please pray for those elections. Read party platforms carefully and vote for the party that fits your beliefs The days of voting for the man or woman are passed. Both parties expect their members to stick with their party platform. Do our homework and be sure to get out and vote.
Please pray for our country, our President, our Congress and the wars around the world. We have multiple neighbors fighting cancer that need our prayers. If you have time, why not check on our neighbors to make sure they are doing well. Most of all pray for our precious troops and their families.
