H. L. Gristy recently returned from a trip to Chicago, Illinois where he toured the Admiral T. V. factory. While there he spent a day sight-seeing in Chicago, enjoyed a boat ride on Lake Michigan, saw the Field Museum and rode an elevated rail road. He returned home by way of the Ozarks and Bagnall Dam.
San Saba folks are looking everywhere for more copies of last week's Life Magazine featuring Walter Shaw, Dee Rutherford, Mark Sullivan, Dit Shaw and Lon Robbins. Who didn't enjoy seeing that good picture, in color, of the friends we see every day?
Mr. and Mrs. Thurman Saxon and Miss Vivian Moore were in San Angelo attending a tea for their aunt, Mrs. David H. Moore, who observed her 90th birthday.
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Gonzales, Jr. of Richland Springs announce the arrival of a son, Felix. Born in San Saba Memorial Hospital, July 7, he weighed five pounds and 11 ounces. They have a daughter, Marcia Ann, age 11 months. The mother is the former Gloria Hernandez.
Mr. and Mrs. Billy F. Kidd and son, Jerry, went to San Marcos to accompany home their daughter, Nancy, after she had completed a six-seek term at Southwest Texas State College. 110 Years Ago July 13, 1916
A deal was closed this week by R. W. Burleson, administrator of the R. G. Coryell estate, selling the San Saba Lumber Co. to the Barnes Lumber Co., of Lampasas.
Quite an improving addition is being made to Bend in form of the barber shop of Fayett Cate, which is now under construction. The new building stands on the west side directly between the Doss store and the W. O. W. Hall, and when completed will be a noticeable feature in our town.
There is a large emigration of coons to the irrigated farms here lately. The boys report them as thick as they were before trapping got to be so fashionable. Some complain that armadillos are eating all their melons. With tie vines, chinch bugs, root rot, boll weevils, squirrels, coons and armadillos the farmer has a rocky time.
Gus Woods narrowly escaped death over the weekend when a team of mules which had has been driving were struck by lightning and instantly killed.
Mr. and Mrs. G.A. Walters and children and Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Harris and children have returned from a visit with relatives at Corsicana, Dallas and other points, making the trip in their cars.
