Juan 8:25-36 DHH Entonces le preguntaron: ¿Quién eres tú? Jesús les respondió: En primer lugar, ¿por qué he de hablar con ustedes? Tengo mucho que decir y que juzgar de ustedes, pero el que me ha enviado dice la verdad, y lo que yo le digo al mundo es lo mismo que le he oído decir a él. Pero ellos no entendieron que les hablaba del Padre. Por eso les dijo: Cuando ustedes levanten en alto al Hijo del hombre, reconocerán que Yo Soy, y que no hago nada por mi propia cuenta; solamente digo lo que el Padre me ha enseñado. Porque el que me ha enviado está conmigo; mi Padre no me ha dejado solo, porque yo siempre hago lo que a él le agrada. Cuando Jesús dijo esto, muchos creyeron en él. Jesús les dijo a los judíos que habían creído en él: Si ustedes se mantienen fieles a mi palabra, serán de veras mis discípulos; conocerán la verdad, y la verdad los hará libres. Ellos le contestaron: Nosotros somos descendientes de Abraham, y nunca hemos sido esclavos de nadie; ¿cómo dices tú que seremos libres? Jesús les dijo: Les aseguro que todos los que pecan son esclavos del pecado. Un esclavo no pertenece para siempre a la familia; pero un hijo sí pertenece para siempre a la familia. Así que, si el Hijo los hace libres, ustedes serán verdaderamente libres.
John 8:25-36 ERV They asked, “Then who are you?” Jesus answered, “I am what I have told you from the beginning. I have much more I could say to judge you. But I tell people only what I have heard from the one who sent me, and he speaks the truth.”
They did not understand who he was talking about. He was telling them about the Father. So he said to them, “You will lift up the Son of Man. Then you will know that I Am. You will know that whatever I do is not by my own authority. You will know that I say only what the Father has taught me. The one who sent me is with me. I always do what pleases him. So he has not left me alone.” While he was saying these things, many people believed in him.
So Jesus said to the Jews who believed in him, “If you continue to accept and obey my teaching, you are really my followers. You will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.”
They answered, “We are Abraham’s descendants. And we have never been slaves. So why do you say that we will be free?”
Jesus said, “The truth is, everyone who sins is a slave—a slave to sin. A slave does not stay with a family forever. But a son belongs to the family forever. So if the Son makes you free, you are really free.
