The Memorial Day weekend

My wife and I really enjoyed the Memorial Day weekend. We didn’t have any big plans but went to a nearby lake with well-maintained, large parks and picnic areas around the lake. Yes, it was crowded, with camp trailers, campers everywhere, tents and others with their cars and lawn chairs.

We stopped and talked to people or just waved or said hi. The neat thing was everyone seemed to be having a good time. Some people had the United States flag sticking out their car window or others with the United States flag standing up in the back of their pickups.

Yes, there was swimming, boating and lots of picnics or cook outs. Seeing all that stirred my heart about our country. But I hope we never forget why we celebrate this special holiday. It is a national holiday to honor and remember, pay tribute to all those who have served, fought and died while serving in the military for this great country. Yes, we are the recipients and enjoy many privileges and opportunities that they gave their lives for. Yes, I do live in a state that is very patriotic and we love it.

My wife and I also remember and have accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, and that really lets us enjoy life and the blessings of this wonderful country.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

John 10:10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

See you in Church next Sunday.
