The Richland Springs Report

The mesquite have budded out, so I hope we will not get the predicted frost. I will cover up my plants just in case. I have my warm jacket ready no matter what happens. I want to give a shout out to Richard Garcia for is kindness in running out of Skelton’s Hardware to pick me up off the pavement where I managed to put myself. Congratulations to Volleman’s on their sturdy bottles. They did not break even after being tossed on the ground. The pants that caused my fall have been sent away. Praise God that nothing was broken, damaged a little, but not broken.

The Richland Springs Preservation Society will be having a workday at the old bank building. The goal is to finish cleaning upstairs and start preparing walls downstairs for remodeling. The date is March 23rd, starting at 9:00 am. All help is appreciated. Even if you can only stay an hour, you help is appreciated.

Congratulations to this year’s One Act Play actors on their firstplace win at district. Their play is The Librarian and deals with the issues faced by individual students after a school shooting. Dalton Moats and Jaspur Farris received Memorable MentionAll Star Cast. Ian McKinnerney received the Best Performer award, Maggie Bryant and Paige Bailey received All Star Cast Awards. Kassadee Daly was nominated for All Star Crew. Their next performance will be the Bi-District meet in Marble Falls on March 31st. Good luck and break a leg.

All’s quiet on the school scene as everyone is out for Spring Break. I’m not sure if parent’s realize how important attendance is to our school. As our board and administration look to close the gap on our deficit, there is one things parents can do to help. We are paid by the state for our attendance in advance, but for every student absent, the state sends us a bill for their absence. They give and take away. Please make sure your students get to school, unless, of course, they are sick. Every dollar helps.

UIL is coming to Richland Springs on March 27th. Mrs. Starr has asked several of the local churches to provide food for the hospitality. I say, with immense pride, that our hospitality room is always first rate. As visiting teachers work on grading and running contests, they can run to the hospitality room and grab a quick snack or delicious lunch. Thank you in advance for standing with the school.

Please pray for peace in the Middle East. Plus, we need patience to put up with higher prices to put a stop to the Iranian threat. We must be willing to be uncomfortable for a short while. Please pray for our government, our President, but most of all our precious troops and their families.
