Dear Editor,
We are so blessed as a community to have the wonderful staff at San Saba Animal Hospital. We have been working with them for 11+ years due to a gift from God, a rescue dog dumped at our house we named Tiger. She looked like she had stripes. She was pretty skinny and very shy but when we took her in to get checked out Dr. Nelms was very gentle with her. He estimated her age at about a year.
After we lost her a day on an out of town trip we discovered SSAH also boards pets. Since we couldn’t be trusted to watch her when we were gone we allowed them to do it for us. Every time we took her in for a stay, Mandy or Jessica always greeted her with love. They started putting her in the “Taj Mahal”, one of the longer runs in the back, so she could enjoy the sunshine. Then they would bring her in at night. We usually would come back late Sunday, and no matter who was on call, they always let us know when they would be there so we could pick her up or put her outside, just as long as she wouldn’t have to wait by herself too long.
As Tiger nestled more into our hearts, I always felt she worked into their hearts as well. I had not seen a pet so willing to go to the vet’s office! We had to put our beloved Tiger down this weekend. On a busy Saturday, Dr. Key said he would be able to come to our house after he finished at the clinic, at our request. When he got here, he was kind, careful and reassured us. The entire staff had given Tiger love and care from the beginning to the end. Thank You Charles, Adam, Tucker, Mandy, Jessica & Ashley for all you do!!
