SSGC receives donation to renovate clubhouse

The San Saba Garden Club would like to thank The Community Foundation of San Saba County, Inc. for its donation of $15,000. The Old Mill House in Mill Pond Park is not only our meeting place but is also a regular location for other community and private events. Unfortunately, the interior was destroyed by the July floods and this donation will help with the repairs and restoration.

Both organizations have a strong commitment to preservation of historical buildings in our area as well as strong ties to the youth in our community. The Garden Club hosts the annual Kids Nature Camp, several contests showcasing art and poetry projects in our San Saba Elementary School, and the San Saba County Youth Fair. The Community Foundation supports a number of community projects and organizations, including the San Saba Youth Sports Association, the Estep Burleson (Burden Hotel) building, the Visitor Center, Mill Pond Park projects, the preservation of the Wedding Oak and Young Life program.

The Garden Club would like to take this opportunity to thank those who have supported our fundraising efforts by individual donations, grants, purchasing pavers (still available), buying quilt raffle tickets, and offering help in clean up. We are halfway to our goal! Thank you for your support!
