The Richland Springs Coyotes added another district championship to their collection, clinching the District 15 title with a 62-0 home victory over Rochelle. The Coyotes finished with 224 yards – 137 on the ground and 87 through the air, against the Rochelle Hornets.
Billy Perry, #17, rushed for 50 yards and two touchdowns, passed for 42 yards and a touchdown, and caught two passes for 31 yards with another trip to the end zone. Ethan Deeds, #8, threw for 45 yards and a touchdown and rushed for 29 yards and another score. Cohen Ethridge, #0, chipped in 58 yards on the ground and crossed the goal line once, while catching a 14-yard pass as well. Layne Ward, #16, hauled in a 31-yard scoring reception, and Brice Roesler, #6, caught an 11-yard pass.
Defensively for the Coyotes, Ethridge led the way with 11 tackles followed by nine from Perry, and eight each from Ward and Rush Norris. Perry intercepted a pass and Deeds recovered a fumble.
The Coyotes conclude district play this Thursday at Lohn, with Junior High and Varsity playing at 6 and 7:30 in Lohn.
