Do we have faith?

I remember the time I decided to trim some trees in our yard so I got my young grandson to help me.

The only problem was that he had never run a chainsaw, climbed a tall ladder and was afraid of heights. We had to have chainsaw school and then trimmed some low branches, but when it came to the ladder, he did not want any part of it.

I told him that I would hold the ladder securely for him and would not let anything happen to him. He, with great fear and trembling, very slowly climbed the ladder and cut off the branches that needed trimming. I held the ladder very securely for him.

That event reminds me of something very important in the Bible.

God wants us to put our faith and trust in Him; yes it might be scary. It takes faith to believe there is a God and that He loves us and that we are separated from Him because of sin.

Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God...

Romans 3:10 as it is written: “None is righteous, no, not one;...

It also takes faith to believe that God He sent His only Begotten Son to die on the cross for us.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

Romans 5:8 ... but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

1 Corinthians 15:3-4 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures,...

And unless we ask forgiveness for our sins and put our faith and trust in Jesus Christ, we will not be forgiven of our sins, ( Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.)

and never be right or in good standing with God, ( Romans 10:9-13 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. 11 For the Scripture says, “Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.” 12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, bestowing his riches on all who call on him. 13 For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”; John 1:12 But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God,...).

See you in Church next Sunday.
