Do we take the time?

They are old, have a hard time working and have very little money. They both have a number of health problems, but in spite of this they always seem happy and talk a lot about trusting in God.

I love to visit with them, and they tell me they pray together every morning asking for God’s care and every evening thanking Him for His watching over them.

The Bible talks a lot about God’s care for us, and the word used is Loving-kindness. Psalm 5:3 O Lord, in the morning you hear my voice; in the morning I prepare a sacrifice for you and watch. 88:13 But I, O Lord, cry to you; in the morning my prayer comes before you. 92:2 ... to declare your steadfast love in the morning, and your faithfulness by night,...

The Bible says we can approach God only because He loves and cares for us. Psalm 5:7 But I, through the abundance of your steadfast love, I will bow down toward your holy temple in the fear of you.

It goes on to say that He wants to hear from us, and we can have confidence in Him. Psalm 66:24, sing the glory of his name; give to him glorious praise!

Say to God, “How awesome are your deeds! So great is your power that your enemies come cringing to you. All the earth worships you and sings praises to you; they sing praises to your name.” Selah Psalm 23:6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

One great thing beside Him loving us, no matter what, is that God can and will forgive our sins if we ask. Psalm 25:7 Remember not the sins of my youth or my transgressions; according to your steadfast love remember me, for the sake of your goodness, O Lord! 51:1 Have mercy on me, O God, according to your steadfast love;according to your abundant mercy blot out my transgressions. 59:16 But I will sing of your strength; I will sing aloud of your steadfast love in the morning. For you have been to me a fortress and a refuge in the day of my distress.

The Bible says God’s love is everywhere no matter where you go. Psalm 33:5 He loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of the steadfast love of the Lord. 36:5 Your steadfast love, O Lord, extends to the heavens, your faithfulness to the clouds.

We are also encouraged to never give up trusting in Him.

Psalm 52:8-9 But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God. I trust in the steadfast love of God forever and ever. I will thank you forever, because you have done it. I will wait for your name, for it is good, in the presence of the godly.

God’s help and watching over us is better than life itself. Psalm 63:3-4 Because your steadfast love is better than life, my lips will praise you. So I will bless you as long as I live; in your name I will lift up my hands.

Sadly, to say many will not put their trust in God and it will cost them in this life but so much more in the life to come. Psalm 32:10 Many are the sorrows of the wicked, but steadfast love surrounds the one who trusts in the Lord.

Those who trust in God will have their life satisfied with many good things. Psalm 90:14 Satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.

See you in Church next Sunday.
