Beginning Wednesday, July 30, 2025 (weather permitting), TxDOT’s contractor, Wagner & Co. will begin the districtwide application of seal coat to state roadways throughout the Brownwood District. The district includes Brown, Coleman, Comanche, Eastland, Lampasas, McCulloch, Mills, San Saba and Stephens counties.
Sealcoat is a layer of liquid asphalt which is topped with small rocks. This is applied as preventative maintenance to seal cracks, increase traction and prolong the life of the roadway.
The project will begin in Stephens County.
This is a fast-moving project that will work its way through the district. The Texas Department of Transportation is responsible for maintaining 80,000 miles of road and for supporting aviation, maritime, rail and public transportation across the state.
