The Colony Memorial Cemetery Associate held its 54th Homecoming and Annual Meeting on April 27, 2024. There were approximately 26 members present.
The meeting was called to order about 11:45 by our president, Bob Millican. Bob asked everyone to thank Sandra Spivey for cleaning the church.
New business:
Mike McDowell reminded all that donations were being accepted. Mike Millican brought up about moving the Cole Brother's monument which is on the old Hicks' place, to some place by the cemetery. This is a monument of the last Indian battle near Colony.
No other business was discussed.
Bob called for the treasurer's report. Warren gave the report and said that the Colony Cemetery has three CDs and a checking account.
The CDs are drawing interest each month.
Jackie Brister suggested trying to get a higher rate of interest. No action was taken.
Warren asked that Clay Spivey become the new Secretary-Treasurer. C. K. Stevenson made a motion that Clay become Secretary-Treasurer, and the motion was seconded and approved.
There were comments about how gorgeous the bluebonnets have been and now have gone to seed. Someone asked how much it cost to mow the cemetery, which is about $300.
C. K. Stevenson gave our prayer before the meal.
There was an announcement that Frances Mullins Herrington passed away earlier in the week.
The meeting was adjourned and lunch was enjoyed by everyone present.

Marsha Coleen Lee (11/5/1952-- 2/10/2025) Michael Cole McDowell, known to friends and family as Cole, passed away on July 14, 2024, in San Saba, Texas, at the age of 51.
