Lucas 9:18-26 DHH Un día en que Jesús estaba orando solo, y sus discípulos estaban con él, les preguntó: ¿Quién dice la gente que soy yo? Ellos contestaron: Algunos dicen que eres Juan el Bautista, otros dicen que eres Elías, y otros dicen que eres uno de los antiguos profetas, que ha resucitado. Y ustedes, ¿quién dicen que soy? —les preguntó. Y Pedro le respondió: Eres el Mesías de Dios. Pero Jesús les encargó mucho que no dijeran esto a nadie. Y les dijo: El Hijo del hombre tendrá que sufrir mucho, y será rechazado por los ancianos, por los jefes de los sacerdotes y por los maestros de la ley. Lo van a matar, pero al tercer día resucitará. Después les dijo a todos: Si alguno quiere ser discípulo mío, olvídese de sí mismo, cargue con su cruz cada día y sígame. Porque el que quiera salvar su vida, la perderá; pero el que pierda la vida por causa mía, la salvará. ¿De qué le sirve al hombre ganar el mundo entero, si se pierde o se destruye a sí mismo? Pues si alguno se avergüenza de mí y de mi mensaje, también el Hijo del hombre se avergonzará de él cuando venga con su gloria y con la gloria de su Padre y de los santos ángeles.
Luke 9:18-26 ERV One time Jesus was praying alone. His followers came together there, and he asked them, “Who do the people say I am?” They answered, “Some people say you are John the Baptizer. Others say you are Elijah. And some people say you are one of the prophets from long ago that has come back to life.” Then Jesus said to his followers, “And who do you say I am?” Peter answered, “You are the Messiah from God.” Jesus warned them not to tell anyone. Then Jesus said, “The Son of Man must suffer many things. He will be rejected by the older Jewish leaders, the leading priests, and teachers of the law. And he will be killed. But after three days he will be raised from death.” Jesus continued to say to all of them, “Any of you who want to be my follower must stop thinking about yourself and what you want. You must be willing to carry the cross that is given to you every day for following me. Any of you who try to save the life you have will lose it. But you who give up your life for me will save it. It is worth nothing for you to have the whole world if you yourself are destroyed or lost. Don’t be ashamed of me and my teaching. If that happens, I will be ashamed of you when I come with my divine greatness and that of the Father and the holy angels.
