Pfc. Noel C. Goodloe, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Goodloe, of Richland Springs, was recently awarded the Good Conduct Medal for Exemplary behavior, efficiency and fidelity at this large Air Service Command depot it the ETO.
W. T. Vogel has completed the painting and added an extra window to his building on the south side of the plaza. New signs also have been added. He is now in position to give even better service in all Allis-Chalmers equipment and parts.
Berry Price and Mrs. Josie Cordell, both of San Saba, were married at the Methodist Parsonage Feb. 19, Rev. John K. Berry officiating. They will live in San Saba.
The latest improvement in town is the glass put in the doors at the Cherokee Variety and Drug Store which was a help in lighting the store.
The pecans are still being gathered. Ervin Keeney receives a truck load a week at 16¢ and 17¢ a pound.
Quite a lot of moving has taken place here recently. Dick Shipman has moved into the home he recently bought from S. W. Brown. The Browns have moved to Brady, where Sandy has employment in a new meat curing plant just recently erected at that place. Mrs. Jim Ford has moved into the house vacated by the Shipmans. Bob Parks has moved into the house vacated by the Fords. Mrs. Ellis Holland has moved into the place made vacant by the Parks. Carl Shirley and Floyd Smith have exchanged places.

The San Saba Junior Lady Dillos (10-1) hosted and won the 2015 “ Open League” championship in February. The tournament championship was the 50th for the JLD program which began in 2004.
Despite the icy weather, Cherokee track throwers traveled to Blanco for a throwers only track meet. Coach Shely says, “They have frigid temperatures and much larger schools, but showed up well.” Kellen Everett and Kohlton Harding threw the shot put in the JV boys division. Emily Skaggs, Kaitlyn Harding, and Talli Morrison threw both shot put and discus. Talli finished 7th in the shop put and 3rd in discus with a throw of 97’9”.
Wedding Oak Winery was recognized with six medals at the prestigious 2015 TEXSOM International Wine Awards presented by Texas Monthly. In just over two years, the young Texas winery has been recognized with 12 significant awards.
Garrett Welch of San Saba High School has been chosen as part of the men’s basketball squad to participate in the 16th annual Big Country Chevy Dealers Fellowship of Christian Athletes All-Star Festival. Parents are Ron and Robin Welch of San Saba.
Milton and Trudy Gage celebrate their 50th Wedding Anniversary. They were married on March 6, 1965 in San Saba, Texas and have resided in the area most of their lives.
