Ross J. Cox, Sr. will provide two programs at Night at the Museum. The first will be on the subject The Texas Rangers & the San Saba Mob. The second program will be about the life of Edgar T. Neal. Neal was one of the Texas Rangers that came to San Saba in 1896, and ended up settling here and becoming sheriff. He was also a Texas Ranger two more times in his life. He was one of the very few Rangers that made the transition from the Frontier Battalion to the modern Ranger force.
Ross John Cox, Sr. was born in 1956, in Dallas County, Texas.After graduating from Rockwall High School, he earned a B.S. degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Texas at Tyler. After serving 3 ½ years in the US Army, Cox went to work as a Highway Patrolman for the Texas DPS retiring in 2007. Cox is an avid amateur historian and has procured eight Texas Historical subject markers. A life member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, Cox is currently working on the ninth marker on the subject “Knights of the Golden Circle” for that group.
