Lenny's Life Lessons

Hello there, dearest San Saba loves, and Happy New Year! I was non persona grata last week as my Christmas was very quiet, so I thought I would carry over the theme. Mom went to Mandy Finch’s house for a bit while I remained home. Mandy has three dogs, Darius, Mollie and Carl; and mom did not me to feel like odd dog out. I totally understand, but I miss mom when we are not together.

Mandy got me the best Christmas present…a squeaker toy! I get a bit goofy when I wrestle him! I took him in my mouth, jetted off the couch, ran into the kitchen, came jetting back full speed to pick him up, missed him and the couch, jumping right onto the floor!! I am fine, nothing broken or sore other than my dachshund pride! What was even more troubling was the fact that mom caught the entire fiasco in a video!

It may be a new year, but I have plans to be the same dachshund. Yes, mom asked me if I was going to tone down the whining, being so demonstrative with snack demands and to stop barking at everyone who walks down the street, but no, nope, and nada! I am not by any means adverse to growing, transformation, but as Popeye said…I yam what I yam… a deliciously, delightful dachshund!

Mom and I have a very special anniversary coming up…our first year since moving to San Saba! It is so wonderful to claim all parts of your life, and our time in the Houston area brought me to mom, but moving to San Saba brought mom and me to our HOME! When I wrote to you guys from Houston, I was writing letters to home without a sense of knowing that home; now I speak to you because you are my home!

Mom and I wish each of you that your new year be like a blossoming flower…more colorful and vibrant each day. If thorns should appear, know they are the sensation of life and opportunity to grow more skin to cover loss. Mom and I love you so much and wish each of you the best!

Love, Lenny
