2024 Angels Unaware Giving Tree

The Angels Unaware program was started by David Williams, a respected member of the San Saba community in 2004, and he continued to serve as a very special 'angel' for local children for 17 years.

Upon his death in 2021, the Child Welfare Board asked local volunteers if they would be willing to continue to keep this program alive in David's memory, and the community has been blessed with another group of Angels who each year work to make sure that qualified children in San Saba County get a bag of presents to make their Christmas a bit brighter.

This program is fortunate to have local businesses that work with us: Arrowhead National Bank takes donations and gives us a visible place to place our tree with the tags of our children, Alamo Pecan is our drop off location for our unwrapped toys, and San Saba's First Baptist Church is our wrapping station/distribution location.

We rely completely on volunteers to make this happen each year. From making decorative bows for each bag, to wrapping individual gifts for each child, we have a dedicated group of people who give us their time and talents.

We also have the San Saba Student Council make individual candy bags for each child, and of course we couldn't do this at all without the generosity of our shoppers AND donors who buy gifts and wrapping supplies or give money.
At the end of a long week of wrapping and prepping each bag, the Richland Springs and San Saba volunteer firemen pick up the bags and deliver them to each child.

When we say this yearly event takes a community to make it happen, we truly mean it. Without each person doing their part, it
Angels- Continued from Front Pagewouldn't be possible, and we feel blessed to live in San Saba County where you find generous people who always step up to make a child's Christmas brighter.

Chip Ingram said, "Generosity isn't an act. It's a way of life." And you don't have to look very hard here in San Saba to find generous people.
