Fall Sweep volunteers beautify community last Saturday

    On Saturday, October 19, Keep San Saba Beautiful partnered with the City of San Saba to hold the FALL SWEEP citywide cleanup.

    Fifty-eight volunteers set out early Saturday morning to clean highways, parks, river and creek banks, and neighborhoods to beautify those areas from litter. From a vacuum cleaner to mattresses, to couches, to more and more tires, these volunteers worked hard to keep your community beautiful.

    Approximately 10 Rotarians, with a few helpers, cleaned several miles on US Highway 190 West, while other volunteers cleaned along Texas Highway 16 North and South and 190 East.

    Volunteers were dispatched to Mill Pond Park, Risien Park, the San Saba River Nature Park, and several surrounding neighborhoods to clean debris and trash along the pond, creek, and river and those areas. Approximately 20 more volunteers hauled their loads to the Sanitation and Recycling Center, and others beautified their place by trimming grass and raking trash on their own.

    Keep San Saba Beautiful greatly appreciates these volunteers in helping keep our community clean and beautiful and as a token of appreciation, volunteers received complimentary breakfast snacks, free cleanup supplies, T-shirts, lunch, and an opportunity to win a gift card.

    All these volunteers removed 14,780 pounds of trash from your community, recycled 74 tires, and submitted plastic bottles to be recycled.
