Richland Springs Coyote Football (4-0) took another victory on the road last Friday against the Burkeville Mustangs. While the 70-7 win was predominantly an offensive strike with 227 total rushing yards, the Coyote defense also had five interceptions and three defensive touchdowns.
The Coyote JV also took home a 61-14 victory on Thursday night against San Juan Diego Catholic School.
Billy Perry (#17) led the Coyotes with 104 rushing yards, two rushing touchdowns, five tackles, one sack, and a pick six. Cohen Ethridge (#13) had a 47-yard rushing touchdown and a 53-yard kickoff return touchdown. Ethan Deeds (#15) added another 32 yards, while Rush Norris (#3) had a 26-yard run and score. Gage Behrens (#20) had 17 rushing yards for a touchdown, along with two PATs, and Brice Roesler (#6) had a one-yard score.
Defensively, Ethridge led with 12 total tackles, while E.J. Aviles (#5) had five tackles, two interceptions, and two defensive TDs. Jim Eckermann (#1) had two tackles and interceptions, Behrens had five total tackles, Deeds took two, and Norris had six tackles and one sack.
Coyote Athletics has a busy week ahead with volleyball, cross country, and football competing in their respective arenas. Varsity Volleyball travels to Junction Tuesday, September 24th, and will host Memorial Christian Academy on Thursday, the 26th. The Lady Coyote CC team will be running in Llano on Wednesday, September 25th, while the JH Volleyball team plays at San Angelo Cornerstone at 6:00 that evening. JH Football travels to Throckmorton Thursday, September 26th, for a 5:30 kickoff, and Varsity will take on Giddings School at home with a 7:00 kickoff.
