Hello again, beautiful San Saba loves, and how have you been? I would talk about the weather except that would like be talking about all of us standing around watching butter burn in a frying pan…boring! I would talk about bugs, but I have been too busy this week being one! Yeah, I have laughed about a trillion times at mom threatening to spank me! The woman is about as threatening as a marshmallow!
Have you guys ever heard of window dressing? You know, things that make the appearance of the inside more attractive to the outside? I am mom’s window dressing lately. Hey, if it is too hot to go outside to entertain myself, I will drape myself over her like a dachshund shawl, stare at her to will her to prepare my favorite foods and let me eat as much as I want. Mandy came by to help mom to empty our storage place and was shocked to pieces because mom was busy making me hard boiled eggs/chicken salad with ranch dressing and spreadable Brie. She shook her head and said never in her life had she seen such a spoiled dog! Um, glad we don’t have mirrors in this house…I haven’t seen that spoiled dog either!
Saturday, Kathy Saucillo brought me and mom to the rodeo parade. I kissed on so many cute little kids, got so many hugs, and met some lovely people! I absolutely loved seeing the horses, and the only time I barked was when they turned the corner and I could no longer see them! Mom told me there are usually many more people in attendance, but I still had such a great time! I had to laugh because when Chief Bauer circled around and saw mom sitting out by the courthouse, he said… “Oh look, there is trouble! Then he saw Kathy, and said… “Double trouble!” I had never heard anyone say mom was trouble, made my dachshund heart giggle!! Oh wait, wonder if he meant me?? Maybe I should offer him an egg salad chicken sandwich?
There is such tremendous love in my heart for our little town! As I watched children run with such freedom and joy before the parade, scramble to gather the thrown treasures of candy from the floats going by, I saw what this world is missing…a sense of belonging. When people would come up to me, embrace me with such warmth, joy, San Saba could only feel like home and with all my heart, I am glad it is! Have an amazing week, dearest friends… Love , Lenny!
