100 Years Ago August 14, 1964
Mr. J. D. Sawyer of Teague is here visiting his sister, Mrs. M. J. Crockett north from town and attending he Fair. This was a very interesting meeting for sister and brother, as it had been 56 years since they had seen one another.
Jackie Coogan, the boy wonder, will be shown at The Majestic in “Pecks Bad Boy.” This is Jackie’s new big one and you can rest assured you will be furnished a real evenings entertainment.
The patrons of the Majestic Theater are much pleased at the sweet soft strains of the new pipe organ which was installed by Mr. Dofflemyer. This new attraction adds much to the entertainment and many lovers of sweet music will patronize the Majestic on account of this added feature.
The County Fair parade was led by the Old Settlers and followed by many decorated floats of farm produce and happy club boys and girls, and girls and boys on their ponies was a sight to make every heart glad.
The games between the Fredericksburg Giants and the home team resulted in 2 to 1 in favor of San Saba. The next game was not finished on account of the shower, but promised to be a very close game.
A gasoline stove which was being used in a hamburger stand at the fair grounds exploded and John Russell and Pinkney Jones received some very painful burns about the face and arms. The accident occurred while the men were engaged in serving hamburgers.

Dillon Brister was one year old August 5. Over the weekend his dad and mother Michael and Gennifer Brister had a huge fish fry at Tommy & Becky Grant’s home in Belton.
San Saba ISD is pleased to welcome 15 new staff members to its family educators. Joining the elementary campus as principal is Shannon Jensen. Ms. Jensen comes to San Saba from her previous position as the Primary School Principal at Fredericksburg ISD.
Johnnie and J. C. Dempsey came back from San Angelo to help their son, John, and the rest of the family prepare the barbecue for the rodeo. J. C. cooked some more of those good red beans which he is famous for.
Jakayly Brook and Jaden Blain Sealy would like to announce the arrival of their new baby brother Jaston Brater Sealy on June 2, 2004. Jaston Brater weighed 6 lbs. 9 oz. and was 19 inches long. Proud parents are Jacody and Deana Sealy.
Coast Guard FiremanApprentice Joanna M. Jimenez, daughter of Sylvia M. and Modesto C. Jimenez of San Saba, Texas, recently graduated from the U. S. Coast Guard Recruit Training Center in Cape May, N. J.
Michael Calderon signs with Barton County Jr. College to play tennis in upcoming season. Present for the signing were San Saba Tennis Coach Ralph Cox, Head Barton County Jr. College Coach Mark Lewis, and Michael’s parents, Janie and Alonzo Calderon.
