The 2024 Armadillo football season officially kicked off last Monday when the first whistle sounded and the young men of SSHS took to the practice field before the sun could make its presence felt.
There are many changes to the 2024 football schedule; the Dillos move out of region 2 (more of a North Texas area) and head south to region 4. Gone are District 5-2A opponents consisting of Coleman, Bangs, Tolar, DeLeon, Hamilton and Goldthwaite. District 14-2A will consist of Mason, Holland, Johnson City, Thorndale and Harper. Pre-District games are with Grape Creek, Junction, Goldthwaite, Waco Bishop, and Hamilton.
Twenty-one lettermen return to the team that finished the 2023 season 3-7. As Andreas Aguire enters his 6th year as the head coach, he will undoubtedly rely on the 6 offensive and 9 defensive starters he has coming back.
Dave Campbell’s Magazine has San Saba picked 4th in district behind Mason, Holland and Johnson City.
