Alice in Wonder Land

I enjoyed reading Keith's First Buck by Keith Warren in the July 25th edition of the SSN&S. When I was in my 50's living in Ohio, before moving to San Saba, Texas, my husband Larry (1940-2020) took me hunting on a neighbor's property. Larry and Ted (on his property) came looking for me after hearing me shoot. They found me sitting on a tree stump pouting as I told them I could've got the deer but was out of shells. Larry told me shells were in my coat pocket and then laughed because I shot small tree limbs instead of a deer! To my defense, it's more difficult to shoot small limbs than a large deer. That's my story, and I'm stickin' to it as I laugh remembering this!

I have a small cluster of corn stalks that grew from seed I feed birds in a small area at my condo here in Zanesville, Ohio. They are around five-feet tall, and ears are coming on. I have taken pictures of them as they grow and will know if it is sweet corn or field corn. A neighbor gave me a tomato plant in a large, round, plastic pot. It looks very healthy and beautiful and is producing a lot of small tomatoes. However, they all have been rotten on the ends when they are ripe. Today, I pulled off five tomatoes and are letting them ripen on my porch in the sun instead of on the plant. Hope this works.

My daughter Jenny and husband Bill took me to dinner on Sunday,August 4th. We needed to be together to remember Jenny's dad and my husband Larry on his birth date. We ate at Texas Roadhouse where the waitress commented about the state of Texas T-shirt I was wearing. That made me smile and remember when I lived in Texas.

Psalm 143:5&6 KJV...I remember the days of old; I meditate on all Thy works; I muse on the work of Thy hands. I stretch forth my hands unto Thee. My soul thirsteth after Thee, as a thirsty land. Selah
