I remember one beautiful afternoon when my wife and I went to check the water level in a dirt tank. Upon arriving we heard this muffled high-pitched squeak. Man was it squeaking, you might say squeaking for dear life.
We found a small snake, a red racer, with a frog in his mouth. The frog was almost halfway swallowed. His head was already in the snake’s mouth, but his front legs were on each side of the snake’s mouth, and that was why the snake was having a hard time getting him swallowed.
My wife quietly reached down and grabbed the snake by the tail and then grabbed the back legs of the frog and quickly pulled him from the snake’s mouth. She let the snake go, and he slithered off. The frog was weak, but after a few minutes he hopped back into the water.
That experience reminds me of something in the Bible. In some way or another we are trapped in sin.
Romans 3:23 ... for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,...
And unless something is done, we will surely die in our sin.
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
But God wishes that no one would perish in sin, so He provided a way of escape.
Acts 2:21 And it shall come to pass that everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
1 Timothy 2:3-6 This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. 5 For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, 6 who gave himself as a ransom for all, which is the testimony given at the proper time.
That way is realizing we are destined for destruction, Hell, unless we call upon God for help. We must ask forgiveness for our sins and ask Jesus to save us.
John 3:16-17 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
2 Timothy 4:18 The Lord will rescue me from every evil deed and bring me safely into his heavenly kingdom. To him be the glory forever and ever. Amen.
