The Rotary Club meets weekly at Pepperbelly's.
June 6th Meeting
There were 14 members present as well as two guests. In attendance were Jerry Blankenship, Jacqueline Carlson, Jody Fauley, Beth and Tom Griess, Pat Johnson, Jake Lackey, Dora Miller, Aleck Newby, Cydney Pearce, Kevin Shahan, Marvin Whitt, Marcus and Paula Wood. Guests were Jeff Carlson, and Candy Kokernot.
The Speaker for last week's meeting was San Saba County Judge Jody Fauley. He gave an update on his duties as a County Judge.
Jody opened his presentation with the question, 'What does the County government do for the public?' The responses varied from providing funds for roads, bridges, law enforcement (jail), deeds and records, all elections, budgets, finances, and emergency services.
Jody continued that his duties include court hearings – district, state, CPS and Appellate Court and Indigent Health Care.
In addition the County Judge presides over The Commissioner Court, The Historical Foundation, The Museum Foundation, and acts as the Chief Budget Officer for County Emergency Management. Duties include issuing Mental Health Orders.
Finally, the County Judge signs orders for Jury Trials.
In summary, the County Judge is the steward for the County to promote the efficient use of tax dollars to provide the services that the citizenry needs.
June 13th Meeting
There were 10 members present as well as two guests. In attendance were Jerry Blankenship, Jacqueline Carlson, Tom Griess, Pat Johnson, Jake Lackey, Lynn McHenry, Sheila Meador, Keith Owen, Kathryn Robertson, and Marcus Wood. Guests were Cindy Williams and Ashley McCoury.
The Rotary speakers were Cissy Williams and Ashley Mc-Coury from ClearView Family Resources which is a 501c3 nonprofit which operates on donations.
Ashley is the founding member as well as the President and Interim Director.
ClearView is a non-profit Christian organization helping to support families in need through education, provisions, and spiritual guidance. They offer free pregnancy tests as well as help with maternity and infant clothing. The Mission is to offer spiritual support and parental mentoring.
ClearView currently has 30 clients with ages under 15 to over 30. They serve the whole family in administering assistance. Cindy and Ashley emphasized that they need additional volunteers.
