Texas Historical Marker dedication

A formal dedication for the new Texas Historical Subject Marker will take place on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at the courthouse square. Special guest speakers will be Joe B. Davis, retired Texas Ranger and president of the Former Texas Ranger Association in Fredericksburg; Michael Lee Cox, retired spokesman for the Department of Public Safety, Texas Parks & Wildlife Department and best-selling author of more than 40 nonfiction books and hundreds of magazine articles, newspaper columns and essays; and Jim Rumsey, current Grand Senior Warden of the Grand Lodge of Texas.

Jim Rumsey, of Tyler, Texas, will represent the Masonic Fraternity at the dedication for the new Texas Historical Marker honoring Edgar T. Neal, Freemason, Ranger, Sheriff.

Rumsey was born in Longview, Texas, and holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) Organization Development/ Change Management from The University of Texas at Tyler. He received his degrees in Freemasonry at Pine Tree Lodge No. 1396 in Longview, where he served as Worshipful Master in 2009 & Secretary 2011-2015. He is also a Past Master of the Texas Lodge of Research and currently serves as Grand Senior Warden of the Grand Lodge of Texas. Rumsey is also active in the Scottish Rite in the Valley of Waco, and a member of the Scottish Rite Research Society. The public is invited.
