Lenny's Life Lessons

Hello, my San Saba loves, and how have you been this past week? I hope life has filled your days with hope, laughter, love, and the knowledge to overcome challenges.

My week was a bit like one of those bags of mixed greens mom buys for her salads: some sweet, and some as bitter as a pill! Dachshunds can be head strong, stubborn; spoiled dachshunds can be holy terrors! Mom bought a set of large yard birds, blue herons, to be exact. They are lovely, but when it got dark, I forgot they were out there, looked out the window and thought there were invaders in my front yard! I started barking so furiously, mom thought a pack of wolves were out there with crow bars ready to come inside! I also bugged mom so much for food she started to think I was actually a stuffed animal dachshund with a hole in it that all the food just dropped out of!

The sweet part of the week was watching a cat parade! Yep, down the road from us, an orange tabby crossed the street, followed by a black one and then another black one. The tabby walked on, but mom spoke to the two black ones and they sat down and looked at each other as if to ask… “is she talking to us?” They stared at us for about five minutes, decided we were boring and moved on. This morning I saw a baby armadillo scurry across the road. I yelled out… “Go Dillos!” That little guy didn’t even look my way, and I told mom he was snooty! Mom smiled and said, “actually, he is snouty like, oh, I don’t know, a dachshund!” The woman thinks she is so clever!

I take lots of naps since we have been here, and it is because I get so much exercise. I also dream a lot more. Did you know dogs dream? The other day I dreamt an alligator knocked on our door, handed us a note that said… “dear occupants…your yard birds are made of tin! I was not aware of this, and therefore you are now culpable for my dental bills!” When I woke up, the first thing I did was jump up, look out the window to make sure our birds still had their heads!

I want you to know, my San Saba loves, I consider it such a privilege being able to share my days and life with you! You are so very special, and we love you to chicken bits!
