Simple Truths

I want to open up the Scripture today to some verses that deal with God’s salvation plan. The first verse is found in Matthew 1:21 when the angel tells Joseph the plan of the birth of Jesus. Hear the reason for his birth in this verse, “And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.” There it is, He shall save his people from their sins.

In Luke 2:10, 11, at his birth, the angel tells the shepherds the good news of the birth, and who he is and what he is: “And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. 11. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.”

If Jesus came as a Saviour to save people from their sins, and he claims to be the one and only access to heaven and the Father, (John 14:6 “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me”) wouldn’t it be wise to consider the following statements and verses?

God loves you and wants you to enjoy the abundant life he offers.

1. John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

2. John 10:10 “Jesus said, I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”

Man is sinful, and his sin separates him from God.

1. Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”

2. Romans 6:23a “For the wages of sin is death (spiritual separation from God).”

Christ’s death is the only provision God has made for payment of man’s sin.

1. Romans 5:8 “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”

2. See John 14:6 above You must personally receive Jesus Christ as your Saviour. It is a personal choice, and a personal belief.

1. John 1:12 “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the son’s of God, even to them that believe on his name.”

You can trust Christ right now by faith.

2. Ephesians 2:8, 9 “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast.”

3. Romans 6:23b “But the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord,” Simply cry out to God by faith and trust his word and not your feelings, and you may have assurance of your salvation.

1. Romans 10:13 “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

2. 1 John 5:11-13 “And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. 13. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.”

I made that decision over 43 years ago and have never regretted one mile I’ve travelled with the Lord!!!!
