Thomas Lee Alston was born in Richland Springs, Texas, on September 17, 1936, to W.T. (Bill) Alston and Claudie Marie Christmas. Thomas Lee was raised in a loving, Christian home and worked in the family business, Alston’s Auto Service, until graduating from Richland Springs High School in 1955. Upon graduation, he moved to Dallas where he spent the next eight years.

He married Ann Marlene Barlow in 1955. They recently celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary. While in Dallas, he worked for the US Postal Service.

In 1963, he and his family moved to Richland Springs. He bought Alston’s Auto Service and opened Poor Boy’s Cafe with his wife, Ann. Tom was the substitute rural mail carrier for Richland Springs and eventually, was the full time carrier until his retirement. He also served as Justice of the Peace for Precinct 2, San Saba County.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Kenneth. Thomas is survived by his wife, Ann of Richland Springs; his daughter, Debra Reavis of Oakalla; daughter-in-law, Monica Alston of Lewisville; his brother, Roy Alston and his wife Sharron of Nacogdoches; and sister, Bettie Oliver and her husband Buddie of San Saba.

Left to cherish his memory are his grandchildren: J.T. and James Reavis, Kyle Reavis, Megan and Derek Brizendine, Hannah Alston, and Will Alston; great-grandson, Amos Brizendine; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was an elder of the Richland Springs Church of Christ.

Thomas Lee Alston 87, of Richland Springs, Texas, passed away at Heart of Texas Healthcare in Brady, Texas, on November 9, 2023.

Visitation for Thomas was Friday, November 10, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Blaylock Funeral Home Chapel in San Saba, Texas. A graveside service was held at Richland Springs Cemetery in Richland Springs, Texas, on Thursday, November 11, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of
