Our incredible Volunteer Fire Fighters take time out from work and family - with only a moments notice - to fight fires and other hazards to protect us and our properties,
Local students got a special treat this week when they received a visit from these hometown heroes. The kids learned about a Fire Fighter's special equipment and gear. Not only do the Fire Fighters need to know how to use the equipment and know how to correctly put on all their gear, they also have to make sure everything is always in working order. The students learned that even though the gear may seem heavy and bulky, each part is so very important.
The students also learned about some special duties Fire Fighters may get called upon to do such as swift water rescues.
Who knows, one day some of these students will be the "Hometown Heroes" teaching the next generation about Fire Week!
