Back to School in Cherokee

Cherokee ISD is eagerly awaiting the return of students on Monday, August 7, 2023.

This will be our 4th year to operate on a four-day school week. We have new and growing courses of study or pathways for our secondary students which include Hospitality and Tourism, Culinary, Floral Design, a new and improved Ag Department, an expanding Engineering Program, and Business Management. We are starting our second year of implementing a full day PreK Program. As weather allows we will continue to grow and expand our school wide garden.

Other new happenings for the year are the start of the Teacher Incentive Allotment and participation in the Effective District Framework and Texas Strategic Leadership Pilot with ESC 15 and Texas Education Agency. Both of these programs will not only strengthen our highly qualified teachers but more importantly enhance the quality of education for our students. We have 36 staff members and expect our enrollment to be 135+.

Our new staff members are Brad Bowden - Coach and High School History Teacher, Jennifer Bowden - 1st Grade Teacher, Lee Snoddy- Cafeteria Assistant/ Support Staff, Richard New - Ag Science, Ashley Arzt- Custodian, and Diana Kimberly- High School English Teacher. We are looking forward to another exciting and successful school year!!
