Hello, San Saba loves, and how has life been treating you since last we spoke? Believe it or not, I spent the week walking down living in San Saba lane with mom. I listened to stories about her morning coffee group at the doughnut shop and looked at pictures. I would even call her Red if her hair wasn’t so white! I heard how JimBob Everett used to say… “Red, eat steak, preferably ribeye!”, instead of saying goodbye to her at the pharmacy! We spoke of Dr. Whiting and how they both determined mom could very well have been alien the way her body never responded as other humans did! Mom spoke of Michael Thomas, Ray Riggs, and so, so many other very special hearts that became a part of hers! I smiled because Tracey Stone Thomas sends me love all the time on Facebook! Listening to mom made me feel like I was home and yet strangely long to be there!
I do have some exciting news. Wednesday, mom’s nephew, Geoffrey, is going to take us to Galveston! Yep, I will put paws in the sand for the first time, stroll on the Strand and see the place my mom was born! If I am excited, I would struggle to find words to describe what mom is feeling! She is fully aware everything changes, but the beauty is seeing life as a mixture of memories mixed with what life did with possibilities!
I plan to carry the memories mom told me about her San Saba life, that warmth, love, and sense of community, and actually bring it back home to the place where my mom began! We hope you have an amazing week! Your home is always where your heart feels safe! We love you to chicken bits!!
