Margie Lee Hicks Benner went to her eternal home on Monday, July 3, 2023, in San Saba, Texas, at the age of 76. Margie was born in Lampasas, Texas, on February 4, 1947, to J.D. Hicks and Marjorie (Pafford) and was raised at Red Bluff. Margie attended Lometa High School, and then she married the love of her life, John E. Benner, on the 26th day of August in 1965 in San Saba, Texas. It is here they made their home for the next 57 years. Margie worked for 32 years at the San Saba I.SD. Margie was a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church along with her family. She was a loving wife, sister, mother and grandmother. Margie loved her flowers and being outside in her rose garden. She always welcomed everyone on her back porch as she could always be found there in her chair. She loved listening to Elvis Presley.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her husband, John Benner, and two children, Duaine and Shana Benner of San Saba; one granddaughter, Abby and husband Micheal McKinnerney of San Saba, Texas; one great-granddaughter, Kallie McKinnerney, and one more on the way; one sister, Jae Dene and husband Ron Bueckner of San Angelo, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A Celebration of Life was held July 6, 2023, at Blaylock Funeral Home in San Saba, Texas, with Alvino Valdez and Tommy Maddox officiating.
