Lenny's Life Lessons

Hello, San Saba loves, and if ever I wish I wish I could hug you, it is right now! My daddy died on June 14th. Now I won’t even pretend I was as special to him as was Herman or even Patches, but my servant spent over 50 years of her life with him and she is awfully special to me! Besides that, I watched my Shawn and all my other family hurt so much over these past months!

My sister Lani was holding his hand as he took his last breath, but it was easy, not labored or strained. The Hospice workers, Karen and Michael, who had been spending days with dad, called my servant into the room, clasped her frail body to theirs, one, then the other, saying he was gone! In her normal mode of strangeness, she bent down, kissed his bald head and said, “Thank you for not dying tomorrow, June 15th, the same day my daddy died! I spent more years with you than ever I got with him!” My servant has always felt, and will always feel, it is the heart you leave along the path of life which matters, not the years stacked up on a calendar!

Have an amazing week, my sweet San Saba loves. Look not at your phone, your computer screen, down at your feet in shame or embarrassment, but in the eyes of those you love, and are yet to love! We love you to chicken bits!
