If you are a Christian, Christ paid a high price for your salvation on the cross. He paid dearly, not because we earned it, not because we are more special than anyone else, not because we are worth it. In fact just the opposite. The Bible says that we were “hostile” towards Him! (Romans 8:7) But because He loved us “while we were still sinners” Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8) Because He loved us and for His own glory, he purchased our salvation on the cross. He saved those who would follow Him. We belong to him if we believe what He did, and we say “God, I see that I was your enemy, I see that I don't deserve to be saved, but I see that you paid the price to save me, and I give myself to you. You are my Savior and you are my Lord.”
That word Lord is important. A lord is someone who has a right to rule or command through ownership. When we come to Christ, as part of that, we give Him complete ownership. You are not yours anymore if you belong to Christ! (That means you are driving a borrowed car, son! Mind the upholstery!) But seriously, when the punishment for your sins was taken by Christ on the cross, that was a high price that purchased more than your Sundays.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 ESV Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.
