Receipts totaled 1,011 head with no sale at San Saba due the July 4th holiday. The market opened the week with a steady tone on all classes of calves and yearlings. Stocker steers and heifers sold steady with 5 steers 617 lbs at $162.00 ($999.54).

Regional winners of the annual Superintendent of the Year (SOTY) award have been announced. Sponsored by the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB), the SOTY program has recognized exemplary superintendents for excellence and achievement in educational leadership since 1984.

San Saba High School was the host of a three-day Elite Skills Camp on June 28-30 that was run by Austin Johnson’s Academy of Hoops.

Richland Springs ISD announced its policy today that this school year, healthy meals will be offered every school day to all students at no cost. Typically, a student’s household must meet income eligibility requirements to qualify for free or reducedprice meals.
1924-25 –– The San Saba County Jail looked like this about 65 years ago, complete with the peaked roof which is now no longer there. The upper window with the curtain blowing out of it, is now barred and the high wood fence has been replaced with a chain-link fence. Oll Hart was said to be the jailer. The picture was provided by Mrs. Elmer House. Taken from the June 29, 1989 issue of the San Saba News & Star.
