Mason & San Saba Thursday, January 22, 2026Receipts totaled 1,927 head. The market on the stocker steers and heifers was softer this week with 4 steers 568 lbs at $ 432.50 ($ 2456.60). The feeder steers were lower to uneven with 4 steers 638 lbs at $415.00 ($2647.70).

On January 17, 2026, Hunting with Soldiers held their 10th annual hunt here in San Saba organized by Winfield Basham of Cleburne, Texas. Gordon Melton is the president of Hunting with Soldiers and is passionate about serving those who have served our country.

Did you know that the San Saba County Museum’s original log cabin building was dedicated in November of 1965? We are now into our 61st year.So far this year, we have hosted the annual visit of the county 6th graders and updated our military cabinet that is dedicated to service in the Pacific.
