City Council holds regular meeting, June 14th; visitors attend with special presentation to the San Saba Police Department

The San Saba City Council held a regular meeting on Tuesday, June 14, 2022, in the City Hall Chambers. Mayor Ken Jordan called the Council to order at 6:00 p.m. and welcomed everyone. The Mayor gave the invocation and led everyone in the pledges to the American flag and the Texas flag.

Receipts totaled 5,455 head. The market continued to move higher this week with very strong demand and very good activity on all classes of cattle. The stocker steers moved $5-$10 higher with 13 steers at 437 lbs $200.00 ($874.00) and 17 steers at 553 lbs $186.00 ($1028.58).

Skelton Hardware opened its doors at 107 E. Main Street in Richland Springs in 1979 by Donald and Ginger Skelton. Since then, the family business was inherited by daughters Kristy Perry and Laura Garcia. Kristy's and Laura’s husbands currently manage the store.

Sierra Madison Veselka graduated from West High School, Friday, May 27, 2022. Sierra will enroll in the fall at T. S. T. C. to study Digital Media Design. Sierra was in the Trojan Band for four years and was recognized for her dedication in band. She was awarded four scholarships.

Learning to read – Do you remember the books you read in first grade? I sure do. And I fondly recall spelling tests, recess, flavored milk, and a girl named Lynne. I still drink flavored milk, but my wife tells me a recess with Lynne today is unacceptable.
